Sometimes natural products can be a little confusing and intimidated, but we’ve gathered a list of the easiest and our favorite natural switches for your traditional products. Going green has never been so easy…

Bath salts:
Try: Pursoma Hot Tub
Normal bath salts can be bleached and scented with artificial gunk. And then you sit in a piping hot bath with chemicals—yuck! Make the switch to bath salts that are SLS, phthalate, paraben, and dye free. And they work like magic to detox the body and put you to sleep.

Tampons:
Try: SHE Tampons
As we just discovered, traditional tampons are pretty gross—chocked full of chemicals and unknown ingredients, and they can actually cause cramps too. Yikes, no thanks. Brands like SHE and Lola are making organic and eco-friendly tampons easy and accessible.

Sheet masks:
Try: Orgaid Sheet Masks
Literally created by a PhD in biomaterials, Orgaid packs a big punch without the harsh chemicals that usually tag along in sheet masks. The goal of the brand is to deliver quality organic ingredients into the body through the skin. And with masks options like brightening, hydrating, and nourishing—they’re all winners.

Nail polish:
Try: Côte Polish
Côte’s polishes are one of a few “10-free” nail polishes on the market. They’re created free of the major toxins and allergens that are often associated with nail polish, but the colors and quality are still on point. And hey, they’re also vegan, cruelty-free, and used bottles are recycled.

Body Lotion:
Try: Pai Comfrey and Calendula Calming Body Cream
Certified organic, vegan, never tested on animals, and of course, incredibly moisturizing, this body cream is specifically formulated for calming sensitive skin.

Toothpaste:
Try: Himalaya Neem & Pomegranate Toothpaste
Natural toothpastes are tricky; sometimes the texture is strange, or the flavor is a little off. But this one is a true star. Don’t be scared off by the neem and pomegranate; this toothpaste is minty and clean.

Gum:
Try: Spry Natural Peppermint Xylitol Gum
Traditional gums are full of a bunch of pretty gross stuff. But this all natural Spry option is a light in a dark tunnel. Its main ingredient is xylitol, a natural sweetener that does not mess around: it directly affects bacteria in the mouth (decreasing plaque, which then sequentially decreases tooth decay). The flavor stays fresh for just about 7-10 minutes, but that’s all the time xylitol needs to do its work, and for you to have fresh breath.

Deodorant:
Try: Lavanila Healthy Deodorant Sport Luxe
Deodorant is a necessary all-natural switch with a dizzying plethora of options, variety, and varied success. One reliable standout is Lavanila. It has no aluminum, parabens, or harsh chemicals. Here’s a pro tip when using natural deodorant: carry the cute travel size version in your bag and replying once mid-day for guaranteed all-day freshness.

Hand sanitizer:
Try: Everyone Coconut and Lemon Hand Sanitizer Gel
Still kills the magical number of 99.99 percent of common germs, while having zero yucky chemical ingredients (and made with the delightful essences of coconut and lemon).

Lip balm:
Try: Tata Harper Be True
The natural balm market is flush with winners. I’m partial to this lip treatment because it’s super moisturizing and Tata product standards are impressively high (non-toxic, eco-friendly certified, and vegetarian/sometimes vegan).

Laundry detergent and cleaning products:
Try: The Laundress
Detergent from the Laundress has a lingering smell that is powder fresh with a hint of musk, and impressively free of the standard laundry detergent ingredients (petroleum, SLS, phosphate, phthalates, and dye). The brand is committed to eco-conscious, cruelty-free, and highly-effective products, and they make incredible cleaning products with the same impeccable standards too.
